Kentchurch Court is a wonderful stately home, primarily a 14th century castle. It is situated in Herefordshire in the United Kingdom. The house at Kentchurch forms part of an enormous 5000 acre estate, including an ancient deer park.
Country Gardens Hereford
On selected occasions, the house has been used as a film location. It was used in ‘The Vault of Horror’ and ‘On the Black Hill’. The Channel 4 reality television show ‘Regency House Party’ was filmed inside the house during 2003. In preparation for filming the house was refurbished extensively . Twenty five different rooms were redesigned and fitted at a cost of £25,000. The restorationwas carried out in exchange for the use of the house. Boxing up the house in preparation for the refurbishment took owner Jan and her helpers 10 whole weeks and an incredible 3 miles of bubble wrap. In 2011 Kentchurch Court was featured in Channel 4 series ‘Country House Rescue’.The house is the ancestral home of the Scudamore family and impressively it has been passed through generations of the family since 1058. It is a Grade 1 listed building. John Nash renovated the house in 1795. The house dates as far back as to the 14th century and is currently considered to be one of the most significant of all the historic houses in England

Jan Lucas-Scudamore and her family presently own and run Kentchurch Court, which is still a family home. Kentchurch Court and its excellent gardens are open for public visits and the huge gardens are part of the National Garden Scheme.The deer park at Kentchurch, originallya medieval settlement currently has approximately two hundred and fifty fallow deer. The Knights Templar originally owned this area and in the past it was used as a Royal hunting ground. The Scudamore family have owned this piece of land since they purchased it from the Knights Hospitallers of Dinmore almost 500 years ago. The deer park boasts a great deal of ancient trees such as ancient Yew, Maple and Sweet Chestnut. You can arrange a visit to this area by prior arrangement.John Lucy Scudamore who owned and lived in Kentchurch in 1815 had the 25 acre gardens landscaped in the picturesque style. The picturesque style remains evident today and the gardens have many interesting collections of a number of plant families including rhododendrons and geraniums, along with a wonderful range of mature trees. Gorgeous displays of wild woodland plants such as bluebells and snowdrops flower in early spring months.Marvellous borders within the walled area of the garden contain interesting collections of many plant families. The expansive terraced lawns are immaculate and the gardens apple orchard bursts into a stunning display of colour when its flowering bulbs come into bloom. Stunning maple trees give a spread of rich colour throughout the autumn season.

The large vegetable garden in Kentchurch, provides the house with fresh produce throughout the entire year. The vegetable garden is intriguingly beautiful due to a range of roses, and other flowering climbers that are grown on many structures in order to encourage the pollination of vegetables.
